Project Homeless Connect

The Colorado Lawyers Committee coordinates the legal component for Project Homeless Connect, a one-day event sponsored by the City of Denver, that connects homeless individuals to services including public benefits, medical care, housing and employment opportunities, and legal assistance. To date, more than 829 legal volunteers have assisted more than 2,600 individuals at this event. Areas of law addressed commonly include: Family, Criminal, Housing, Consumer & Bankruptcy and Employment.

A terrific opportunity to assist those in need while also broadening your own knowledge by working with experienced and committed lawyers, Project Homeless Connect is co-sponsored by the Colorado Lawyers Committee and the Association of Corporate Counsel-Colorado Chapter.

***COVID-19 Update*** This event has been cancelled for 2020 and 2021. The next Project Homeless Connect event will be in the Fall of 2022.

Who We Serve

Individuals are served on a first-come, first-serve basis. Most participants arrive with very specific questions and legal issues. You’ll be surprised how much assistance you can provide to someone who is confused or unfamiliar with the legal system.

What Volunteers Do

Volunteers are needed for the Legal Resource Center and the Homeless Court.

In the Legal Resource Center, volunteers help determine significant legal issues, refer individuals to legal services, and answer other questions about the legal process. Volunteers, who are paired with a more experienced volunteer, do not provide legal representation and do not need expertise in a particular area of law in order to participate.

Volunteers in the Homeless Court appear before a Denver County Court Judge and represent individuals who have municipal warrants.

Schedule

Project Homeless Connect is held once each year, as scheduled by the City of Denver. Sign up below to receive information about the 2021 event. We hope you’ll join us!
